Setting goals are vital to seeing the results we desire. Instead of juggling them in your head, try jotting them down. At NeoLife, we believe, “written goals have a way of transforming wishes into wants; cant’s into cans; dreams into plans; and plans into reality. Don’t just think it – ink it!” So, go ahead, try writing down your goals and use our 4 steps to help you achieve them!
1. Clarify what you want
Define exactly what it is that you are trying to achieve and write it down. Do you want to lose 10lbs? Spending more time in the gym may add muscle weight so don’t just use a scale to determine your results. Measure your bicep, waist, hips and thighs so you have a way to measure inches lost. Or put aside an old pair of pants that haven’t fit in a while. The scale may not display your full results but that old pair of pants will!
2. Focus in
Set a target date for yourself and keep your eye on the prize! Giving yourself a time frame will help keep you focused on what you want to achieve. You should also set short-term and long-term goals. Your 90-day goal may be to run a marathon so first focus on completing a 5k. Not only will the short-term goals keep you focused, but they will also keep you motivated and encouraged!
3. Make a plan
The next step to achieving your goal is to make a plan. If you are aiming to lose weight or improve your fitness level, schedule 4 days out of the week to hit the gym. Instead of Sunday brunch, make a plan with friends to have protein shakes and go for a bike ride.
4. Track your progress
Write down your food intake and your exercise routine for the day. If you didn’t reach your goal go look back and see why. You may see that you were not as good as you originally thought. Use this as motivation to work it harder the next week. Hold yourself accountable and also see how far you have come from day one!
What is your goal? How will you achieve it?
