What was your motivation for joining the 90-Day Challenge?
I have so much to be thankful for these days. My son was born in April 2017 and about 2-3 weeks post surgery I noticed I was starting to show signs of feeling occasionally blue. Add on the frustration, burn out and just exhaustion from my profession it was only intensified. My husband accepted a position at Santa Clara University, which started our process of moving across country with a 4 month old and a 4 year old in August 2017. The stress of moving, trying to find a job and just all the uncertainties with a move like this, intensified my symptoms. Luckily, by the grace of God and through searching for a piece of furniture I met some amazing people. While moving in to our house I decided to look for some furniture through Facebook market and I ended up finding a hutch that was being sold by Promoters who shared NeoLife with me. Shelley Lozonne followed-up with me and I started on the Breakfast Pack. Within a week I noticed my energy levels rising and my health improving. Now to ease the stress of finding a job my husband and I decided we would start a NeoLife business. A little under a month of starting the products, getting back to an exercising routine and feeling so much better I began my 30-Day Challenge; to complete a 5K in under 30 minutes. After completing my 30-Day, I continued on to my 90-Day Challenge; to complete a half marathon in less than 2 hours.

What was your 90-Day goal?
tammy_holleman3I originally set this goal of completing a half marathon in less than 2 hours two years ago. I ran the Rock n’ Roll Nashville half marathon and just missed my time by 6 minutes (which is a lot in running time). It has haunted me for the past 2 years. When I got pregnant in the Fall of 2016 I had basically given up on ever getting back to that point of running and figured my days would be spent working or taking care of the kids. I just didn’t see myself being able to train like that again based on my work and family life. Once starting NeoLife and joining the Challenge I knew I was ready to give it a go again. Plus, I had the freedom to train when I needed to. So 2 years later, with the support of friends and family I was able to accomplish that goal at the Rock n’ Roll San Francisco half marathon and it felt amazing. I not only set a new personal record, but I completed it in under 2 hours; 1:59:05 to be exact. One of the best parts of the race was going through the Blue Mile. This was on one of the first hills of the run and it was lined with American flags held by our military and pictures of fallen soldiers. That was a great push to keep me going through out this run. For this race, just as the last one, I signed up to be a St. Jude’s Hero. I have a passion for helping kids and others and I was able to raise money for St. Jude’s and used that as another motivation to complete this Challenge. As I pushed through the finish line all I could think about was everyone I was running for; my team, my family, the kids at St. Jude’s, the lives I’ve touched, the lives I’m going to touch. It was a very emotional finish.

How did your Health Pack help you to achieve your goal?
For training, I started with the Breakfast Pack, but changed the last month of the 90 days/before the race to the SPORT Pack and it made all the difference. Recovery after long and hard runs was so much better when I switched to the SPORT Pack. I also saw more definition in my muscles over the past month than I did before. I highly recommend the SPORT Pack for anyone who is physically active.

tammy_holleman2How has the Challenge positively impacted your life?
I have truly seen that the NeoLife way is the way I want to live and the way I want to teach my kids to live. If you want freedom, if you want awesome relationships, if you want to be pushed and rewarded, if you want a part-time income, if you want to travel, if you want to dream again…NeoLife has allowed all these things for myself and my family!

What is one tip you would give to someone new to the Challenge?
A strong support group was key in my success. My family, my friends, and my NeoLife team supported me and have continued to support me through the Challenge. Having that support and accountability made all the difference. When the days are long and the motivation was low, I just knew there was someone counting on me and it pushed me to get up and move.
